OUR MEZCAL JOURNEY

IT BEGINS WITH AN EPIPHANY

As the founders and dreamers behind this brand, we are Jacqui Thompson and Ingrid Chavez. Our love for music and agave spirits brought us together to create a mezcal that is as unique and special as the melodies that have shaped our lives.

Our journey started when we both worked in the music industry, but it wasn’t until we met in 2016 that we discovered our shared passion for agave spirits. Jacqui introduced Ingrid to Revel, an Agave Distillate brand she founded in 2012 and we knew immediately that we were kindred spirits.

Over the next few years, we worked on various music projects and continued to explore our shared love of agave spirits. And then one day, while sitting at a mezcal bar, we had an epiphany. Why not combine our love for music and mezcal and create our own brand?
Without hesitation, we booked our tickets to Oaxaca and began our mezcal journey.

IT BECOMES A MISSION 

As we arrived the anticipation for the adventure ahead of us was palpable. On our first day, we were fortunate enough to witness the Super Blood Flower Moon, a rare and spectacular lunar event. We felt a sense of wonder and awe as we gazed at the moon’s vibrant hues and reflected on the cosmic significance of this moment. It felt like a good omen, a sign that we were destined to embark on an unforgettable journey.

Our mission was to find a female Mescalero who produces mezcal in the Ancestral tradition, a rare and highly coveted type of mezcal that reflects the history and culture of Oaxaca. We recognized the connection between the full moon and the harvest of agave for mezcal, and we believed that our timing was auspicious.

Being a female-founded brand, we have a deep appreciation for the vital role that women have played in the production of mezcal for centuries. That’s why it was important for us to work with a female distiller who shares our values and vision. 

Having toured many different Palenques, meeting and tasting the best of the region, we chose to work with Mescalero Rosario Angeles, a young distiller from the village of Santa Catarina Minas.

Rosario’s innovative and unique approach to mezcal production sets her apart from traditional mezcal producers, despite not coming from a lineage of distillers. Her unwavering passion and dedication to the craft have driven her to explore and experiment with new flavor profiles and techniques while still staying true to the ancestral tradition of mezcal making. We are proud to work with Rosario to create a mezcal that represents the best of both worlds – honoring tradition while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
